Six Day War

- This is also known as the June War, 1967 Arab-Israeli War or as the Third Arab-Israeli War. It was fought by Israel and by the neighboring states of Egypt, Jordan, and Syria.
- First there was a period of high tension, then, Israel started the war by launching surprise air strikes against Arab forces. Israeli forces won the Golan Heights from Syria, East Jerusalem and the West Bank from Jordan, and the Gaza Strip and Sinai Peninsula from Egypt. This was a quick and victorious war for Israel.
